The following list of city and county public officials, most elected, some appointed, is presented with the full knowledge that there will be some errors, a situation made inevitable by the condition of early county records and the failure to preserve early city records.
The author wishes to express his deep appreciation to the late C. Mitchel Hall, whose earlier works on Johnson County history included similar information and whose volumes on Johnson County genealogies will remain valuable reference works for generations to come.
