- Teater, Oran C. - 10/28/21 -
- Oran Cecil Teater joined the staff of
Paintsville's Independent School District in
1945 as a teacher and assistant coach. He
later became head football coach. Teater was
named Superintendent in 1958 upon the
resignation of J. C. Edelman. He retired on
January 21, 1978 after 23 years as
Superintendent, the longest tenure of any
administrative official in the school's
history. Teater graduated from Paintsville
High School in 1940 and starred in football
at Centre College where he received a
Bachelor's Degree in 1944. In 1952 he was
awarded a Master's Degree from Morehead State
University and pursued a doctorate at the
University of Kentucky. In 1992, Teater was
inducted into the Kentucky High School Sports
Hall of Fame.

- Thomas, Harry - 3/28/04 - 7/?/81
- Harry Thomas, son of R. C. Thomas, attended
Paintsville public schools, John C. C. Mayo
College and Berea College. He was married to
Grace Scott Thomas. Harry was a road
construction engineer and was later employed
by North-East Coal Company. He joined the
University of Kentucky Geologic Survey unit
where he served for a number of years. He was
elected Johnson County Judge in 1966.
- Thomas, Richard C. - ??? - ???
- Richard C. Thomas was the scion of a large
and talented family. Mr. Thomas came to
Paintsville around 1907, along with the
LaViers and Evans families, from Wellston,
Ohio, to become Superintendent of North-East
Coal Company coal mines at Whitehouse, Auxier
and Thealka. Mr. Thomas, his sons and
daughters were gifted musicians and singers.
The entire family was active in civic, social
and religious affairs. Richard H. (Harry)
Thomas, an engineer and farmer served one
term as Johnson County Judge from 1966 to
1970. His son, Richard Scott Thomas, a
professional dancer and founder of a New York
City ballet company, is the father of
television and motion picture actor Richard
Earl Thomas.

- Thomas, R. C. -
- Richard Thomas was one of the Big Sandy's
early coal mine managers. He, along with
Henry LaViers, came to Paintsville from
Wellston, Ohio, to operate the North-East
Coal mines in this region. Richard C. Thomas'
family was active in community, school and
church affairs. His seven children were known
for their musical ability. Richard Earl
Thomas, television and motion picture actor
is his great-grandson.

- Richard Earl Thomas was born and educated in
New York City where his father, Paintsville
native Richard Scott Thomas, founded and
operated a dance studio and ballet company.
Richard Earl pursued a career in the theater.
He starred as "John-Boy" in the
television series The Waltons and has had a
very successful career in television and
motion pictures since then. Although he
continues to make his home in New York City,
Richard Earl Thomas is a frequent visitor to
Johnson County.

- Trimble, Deborah Lynn - 11/11/53 -
- Debbie Trimble received her Associate Degree
in Nursing from Prestonsburg Community
College following her graduation from
Paintsville High School in 1971. She was
appointed Director of Nursing and, later,
Administrator and CEO of Paul B. Hall
Regional Medical Center in 1986, where she
has established a notable record of
achievement and recognition. Debbie is a
Director of First National Bank of
Paintsville and is active in First Baptist
Church where she serves as pianist.

- Trimble, James S. - 8/21/31 - 3/6/86
- James S. Trimble, coal, gas and oil
developer, served as Mayor of Paintsville
from 1975 through 1985, when his health
forced him to retire. He, along with Ralph B.
"Tiny" Preston, share the
distinction of having served consecutively in
the office of mayor longer than any other
person...11 years. It was during Mayor
Trimble's administration that the city's
Urban Renewal Project in the city's
Bristlebuck section was completed, permitting
the construction of Paul B. Hall Regional
Medical Center and the Carriage House (now
Ramada) Convention Center.

- Trimble, John Mark - 1/10/27 -
- John Mark Trimble, Paintsville businessman
and community leader, graduated from Oil
Springs High School and entered military
service with the U. S. Army in Germany where
he served from 1945 through 1947. Following
his graduation from Morehead State University
in 1952, John Mark was employed by Swift
& Co. He and his wife, Janet Marsh
Trimble, founded several successful
businesses, including the Paintsville and
Prestonsburg Credit Bureaus and Computers
Plus and were part owners of The Family
Store. John entered the insurance field with
Commonwealth (now Capital) Insurance Co. and
later formed his own insurance agency. He
served as Executive Secretary of the
Paintsville Area Chamber of Commerce in the
1960s during one of its most productive
periods. In the 1950s John Mark and Janet
owned and operated the Tiger Drive In on
College Street, the first drive in restaurant
in Paintsville and one of the most popular
gathering places for teenagers. John Mark and
Janet remain active in the affairs of First
United Methodist Church.

- Trimble, Paul Wade - 6/30/28 -
- Paul Wade Trimble served as Principal and
Supervisor at Paintsville High School from
1960 to 1978, 1985 to 1987 and 1987 to 1993,
representing one of the longest
administrative tenures at Paintsville. Prior
to serving in these capacities, Paul Wade
taught at PHS for four years and was
elementary principal in 1958. He graduated
from Oil Springs High School in 1946 and
attended Pikeville College for two years
before entering the U. S. Army where he
served in Germany. In 1954, he received a
Bachelor's Degree in geology and business
from Morehead State University. Paul Wade
retired in 1993.

- Turner, Dr. I. R. - 1/1/1838 - 8/27/20
- Dr. Isaac Redmon Turner served in the Union
Army during the Civil War. He later attended
the University of Cincinnati Medical College
and returned to Paintsville to begin his
private practice of medicine. In 1883, he was
one of the medical heroes in the fight
against a smallpox epidemic on Beaver Creek
in Floyd County. Dr. Turner joined with John
C. C. Mayo and others in amassing coal leases
throughout the Big Sandy region. He was one
of the founding directors of Paintsville (now
First) National Bank.

- Turner - Judge James W. - 11/19/1874 -
12/17/59
- Jim Turner received his undergraduate
education at Kentucky Wesleyan College, Ohio
Wesleyan College and Harvard University
before obtaining his law degree from Boston
University. He later returned to Paintsville
where he assumed the position of Cashier with
the newly organized Paintsville (now First)
National Bank. He remained affiliated with
Paintsville National Bank until the Great
Depression Bank Holiday of 1933. He assisted
in reorganizing the bank as First National
Bank of Paintsville. Mr. Turner was elected
Circuit Judge in 1946, a position he held
until ill health forced his resignation in
1954.
